Azerbaijan's cooperation with NATO is at a high level. The organisation has urged Azerbaijan to bring the military system into line with NATO standards, Romanian ambassador and NATO coordinator in Azerbaijan, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, said at the conference 'NATO's role in shaping the geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus and around it' today organised by the Strategic Studies Centre under the Azerbaijani president together with the Romanian embassy in Azerbaijan.

He said that Azerbaijan and NATO are cooperating in the military sphere and several projects are planned to be implemented to intensify it.

"Baku is interested in cooperation with NATO," he said. "NATO also supports and will support Azerbaijan by its projects in the military sphere."

The successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO testifies to the successful integration into the Euro-Atlantic organisation.

"The calls of ensuring security including cyber security and the fight against terrorism are the most important issues within NATO," he said. "Azerbaijan in this regard has established very active cooperation with NATO and defence and security reforms are being supported."
