Baku to hold military parade

Baku will hold a military parade on June 26 in connection with the 95th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Chingiz Mammadov told Trend on Monday.

Baku will hold a military parade on June 26 in connection with the 95th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, the Deputy Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Chingiz Mammadov told Trend on Monday.

"In short, the parade will be grand," the Deputy Defense Minister said, responding to inquires as to what types of troops and equipment are to be demonstrated during the parade.

The parade will feature all kinds of troops and different types of equipment of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, military sources informed Trend.

According to the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated May 22, 1998, June 26 is the Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan.

The last military parade was held in 2011 in the central square Azadlig and was timed to coincide with the Day of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence.

The parade was attended by 6,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces and presented up to 400 pieces of military equipment and weapons systems, including about 50 units of modernized military combat vehicles, about 60 weapons produced and upgraded in Azerbaijan, 14 armored personnel carriers, 35 attack helicopters, 22 combat aircraft, eight training aircraft, 28 ships, boats and other equipment.
