Within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture being held in the city of Cannes of France, Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva met with mayor of Cannes Bernard Brochand on July 5.
Significance of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture was once more emphasized at the meeting, and satisfaction was expressed with the impression that this event has made upon the city public and tourists, according to the official website of the First Lady of Azerbaijan.
Bernard Brochand noted that thousands of people watched the pyrotechnic festival which opened in Cannes on July 4.
Significance of continuing relations between Azerbaijan and the city of Cannes in future was underlined, and it was noted that implementation of some projects is under consideration.
Bernard Brochand presented a diploma of an honoured citizen of Cannes to Mehriban Aliyeva.
Decorated with the Azerbaijani flag, a copy of a statuette made in honour of the participant-countries of the summit of the Great Eight which was held in this city, was presented to Mehriban Aliyeva.
On the same day a photo-exhibition devoted to Azerbaijan was inaugurated within the framework of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture being held in Cannes city of France.
The exhibition first of all presents the old traditions of Azerbaijani people, its past and present. The purpose was to introduce to the European audience the cultural treasures of Azerbaijan and the richness arising from it.
The solemn inauguration of the exhibition was followed by a Jazz concert with participation of Azerbaijani masters.
Azerbaijan's Ambassador to France Elchin Amirbayov informed the French audience of the Azerbaijani culture. Amirbayov said the Azerbaijani music was famous in the world and much work has been done to promote the art of mugham in the world. He noted that the Jazz music also has big traditions in Azerbaijan.
