President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today attended the opening of a Shaki-Gakh section of the newly remodeled Shaki-Gakh-Zagatala highway as part of his visit to Gakh, AzerTAg reported.
The Head of State viewed photos reflecting the technical and economic indicators of the road.
Transport minister Ziya Mammadov informed the President that the reconstruction of the highway started in 2010.
The two-lane road is 35 km in length, 7 meters in width. Reconstruction work included the building of a bridge over the Kumruk River. The construction of the bridge started in 2012.
The Shaki-Gakh section of the highway links 21 settlements of Shaki District with the total population of 28,000 people, and 6 residential areas of Gakh District with the total population of 2,000 people. There are 21 bridges over the road.
The Head of State cut a ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road.
President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done here.
