In the near future, Azerbaijan and Iran will sign an agreement aimed at enhancing cultural and religious relationships.

This was stated by the Chairman of State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov at a meeting with the Chairman of the Iranian Organization of Islamic Cooperation Mohammad Bagir Humradshad in Tehran, IRNA news agency told Trend.

Iskendarov proposed to create a joint working group to organize religious activities.

Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Mohammad Bagir Humradshad said that, religious and cultural ties between the two countries should be given an organized form.

"We are ready to cooperate in the field of translation of the Quran and religious books", Humradshad said.

The parties discussed the issues of exchange of students and experts from the scientific and religious spheres, as well as the question of using the experience of Islamic Studies at the universities of Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Elshad Iskandarov began his official visit to Iran on September 14.
