Azerbaijani special services announce new details in regard to detention of journalist

As a result of operative measures taken on information received by the Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security (MNS), the smuggling of a large batch of firearms and ammunition from Iran to Azerbaijan was prevented, a report of the MNS public relations centre said on Friday.

As a result of operative measures taken on information received by the Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security (MNS), the smuggling of a large batch of firearms and ammunition from Iran to Azerbaijan was prevented, a report of the MNS public relations centre said on Friday.

Azerbaijani citizens - Hashimov Parviz Kamran oglu who is a native of Zar village of Kalbajar region, temporarily registered in Gulustan settlement of Nizami district of Ganja city, but actually living in Binagadi district of Baku, and Gurbanov Tevekkul Zakariya oglu who is registered in the Ganja city, but actually residing in Nasimi district of Baku, were detained on September 17 for perpetration of this illegal action.

A criminal case was initiated on this fact at the MNS on the articles 206.3.2 and 228.2.1 of the Criminal Code. Both persons are being accused as suspects, and by the decision of the court arrest was chosen in their respect.

It should be noted that Hashimov was engaged in journalistic activity.
