Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.10

By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Bashar al-Assad is the source of evil in Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Jan.10, Anadolu agency reported today.

Turkey's position on Syria remains unchanged, according to the minister.

Davutoglu also added that some forces in the world with the help of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organisation in Syria want to put this country's people before a choice.

"Groups associated with Al-Qaeda do not fight against the regime in Syria," Turkish foreign minister said.

During the conflict in Syria, which began in March 2011, over 115, 000 people have been killed and over 4.2 million have become refugees in Syria, as well as two million having fled to neighbouring countries. The main burden of receiving refugees lay on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. The total population of Syria before the conflict amounted to 20 million.
