Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has accepted the resignation of vice-president and head of the Iran's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO), Mohammad Ali Najafi, Iranian IRNA news agency reported on Jan. 30.
On Jan. 29, Iranian media outlets announced that Najafi had offered his resignation from the organization.
In his letter of resignation, Najafi has asked Rouhani to employ him in posts with lower levels of stress due to his health problems.
Najafi, who failed to win the parliament's vote of confidence for the education ministry in Rouhani's administration, was appointed as vice-president and head of the CHTHO in August 2013.Najafi served as education minister under former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and former Prime Minister Mirhossein Mousavi from 1988 to 1997.
Rouhani has appointed Najafi as president's adviser and secretary of the Economic Coordination Committee.
