There is an intervention of Russian forces in Crimea, which is a serious violation of international agreements and principles of the OSCE, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said during his visit to Iran on Saturday, according to Ukrinform's Warsaw correspondent.

"The Polish consulate in Crimea has confirmed disturbing reports regarding an intervention of Russian-speaking and Russian forces in Crimea," Sikorski said. He added that this is a very serious violation of international agreements and principles of the OSCE.

The Polish top diplomat added that due to the recent events in Crimea, he had telephone conversations with Ukrainian foreign and defence ministries, and is in constant contact with the President and Prime Minister of Poland.

Sikorski said that in the near future we can expect a meeting of major Western leaders on Ukraine. He also emphasized that Warsaw constantly calls on to comply with the provisions of the Budapest Memorandum 1994 [concerning the observance of the territorial integrity of Ukraine - ed.]. Sikorski also noted that he interrupted his trip to Iran due to the worsening situation in Crimea.
