Rallies are being in held in Turkish capital of Ankara as a sign of protest over today's death of Berkin Elvan, 14, who was severely injured in the protests in Taksim Square last year, according to Turkish Hurriyet newspaper on March 11.

Thousands of protesters are currently gathering in front of the Middle East Technical University.

Elvan suffered a head injury as a result of police opening fire and had been in a coma for 269 days.
