Mass protest actions are taking place in front of the Central Election Commission's building in Ankara, the Turkish capital, Turkish Milliyet newspaper reported on April 1.

Around 500 supporters of the Republican People's Party are currently gathered in front of the Central Election Commission's building, according to the newspaper.

Protestors are demanding a recount of votes after the municipal elections held on March 30. The Justice and Development Party won in the elections, gaining 45.6 percent of the votes.

A member of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party, Melih Gokchek won in the municipal elections in Ankara.

Mass protest actions broke out in Ankara on the night of March 31.

The number of registered voters in Turkey is 52,695,831 people. Out of them, some 26,704,757 people are women and 25,991,750 people are men.

Some 194,310 ballot boxes were installed throughout the country. Some 26 political parties participated in the municipal elections.
