All construction work has been suspended in Bodrum city of Turkish Mugla province, Turkish Milliyet newspaper said on April 19.

The work has been suspended due to verification of documents authorizing the construction. The verification of authorizing documents will last till May 15.

The decision to suspend all construction work was made by the new head of the Bodrum municipality.

Mehmet Kocadon, the candidate of Turkish Republican People's Party (CHP) was elected the new head of the Bodrum municipality in the last elections.

Turkey hosted municipal elections on March 30, resulting in the victory of the ruling Justice and Development Party with 45.6 percent of the votes.

Some 26 political parties took part in the municipal elections.
