Iran's first oceanographic vessel will be launched by the end of the third Iranian calendar month (June 21).

Abbas Nobakhti, faculty member of Iran's Oceanography Research Center added that the vessel will be launched into water in the Persian Gulf, Iran's Fars news agency reported on April 26.

The construction of the vessel which has started in 2011 is 50 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 12 meters high, he said.

In December 2103, a senior Iranian navy commander said the country's defense ministry was manufacturing an oceanographic research vessel, which would be launched in the near future, Tasnim news agency reported.

Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari, managing director of Iran Defense Ministry's Marine Industries Organization, told the Tasnim News Agency that the organization is now manufacturing the country's first ocean research vessel, which belongs to Iran's National Institute of Oceanography (INIO).

The large ship will be launched in the near future, Rastegari said, adding that it would help the Iranian scientists carry out researches in the oceans more easily.
