President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order "On providing one-time financial assistance to participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, widows of the fighters who died during or after the war, persons awarded orders and medals for their selfless work in the rear".

Under the document, veterans of the Great Patriotic War will be paid one-time financial assistance in the amount of 700 manat.

A sum of 300 manat will be paid to widows of the fighters who died during or after the war, persons awarded orders and medals for their selfless work in the rear, employees of special forces that carried out orders in the interests of the army and navy, persons awarded the appropriate medal and badge for the defense of Leningrad, and participants of the blockade of Leningrad.

A total of 7.6 million manat has been allocated from the President`s Reserve Fund to this end.

The Ministry of Finance is tasked to transfer the amount to the special account of the State Social Protection Fund.

President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on extra measures to provide special transport for the disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War and to those with equal status.

Under the presidential order, 3.5 million manat have been allocated to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population from the President`s Reserve Fund to ensure full provision of free special transport to the disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the persons having equal status with them as well as the persons who had been put - on the basis of a medical certificate before 2014 - on a waiting list, to receive special transport.

Ilham Aliyev also signed an order to increase presidential pensions of persons of several categories who participated in the war.

Under the presidential order, participants of the Great Patriotic War, the persons who were employed in enterprises, agencies and organizations in besieged Leningrad, and the holders of the Medal "For the Defense of Leningrad" and "Resident of Besieged Leningrad" Badge (except for the war disabled) will have their monthly presidential pensions increased to 100 manat from May 1.
