During his working visit to Georgia on May 6, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited the Tbilisi Park of Culture and Recreation named after Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Azerbaijani president laid flowers at the national leader's monument.
The park named after Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev, was opened on June 14, 2004. The opening was attended by Ilham Aliyev and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
The monument to Heydar Aliyev is installed in the center of the park. The first tree in the park was planted by Ilham Aliyev.
Following the 2007 repairs and reconstruction works, the park's area was transformed - a large number of trees and ornamental plants were planted and benches were installed there.
After the reconstruction, the park was officially opened on May 12, 2007 with the participation of Azerbaijani and Georgian Presidents, as well as members of the two countries' governments and parliaments, and representatives of accredited diplomatic corps.
The park named after Azerbaijan's national leader covers an area of one hectare. The park was designed by F. Akhundov, while People's Artist of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev sculptured the monument to Azerbaijan's national leader.
