Baku, Azerbaijan, June 30
By Temkin Jafarov - Trend:

'Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL), 'terrorists' of the Ba'ath Party [the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party] and their supporters should be convicted of war crimes in Iraq and Syria, Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said.

He made the remarks while meeting with the staff of Iran's Defense Ministry, the country's ISNA news agency reported on June 30.

Dehghan pointed out that thousands of people are killed, robbed, raped and publicly put to death in Iraq and Syria.

He went on to add that international organizations and the forces that talk about human rights, turn their blind eye to this, which violates the region's security.

The Iranian minister stated that these crimes are committed in order to create secure borders for the 'Zionist' regime and weaken the forces opposing Zionism.

"ISIL is a product of the U.S. and the Zionist regime. The fate of the ISIL terrorist group will be worse than that of Saddam Hussein," the minister said.

Dehghan underscored that Iranian armed forces support Iraq's territorial integrity, adding that Iran wishes to see a united, secure and developed Iraq and supports all the steps towards this purpose.
