Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his electing Turkish president.

"I would like to heartily congratulate you on your electing as Turkish president and to wish you success in your state activity," a congratulatory letter of the presidential administration says. "I am glad that the Republic of Turkey, a friend and closest partner of Georgia, is being successfully developed under your leadership and this was reflected in the election results. We hope that Turkey will continue moving forward and developing due to your efforts. I am sure that our close cooperation based on the principles of mutual aid and friendship, will be actively continued in the future for the benefit of Georgia and Turkey."

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili also congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his electing Turkish president.

"I heartily congratulate you on your victory in the presidential election and wish you success for the welfare of your country and your people," Garibashvili's congratulatory letter says. "The election once again clearly showed Turkish citizens' support for the reforms carried out under your leadership. As a result, Turkey has overcome many challenges and achieved economic success. Georgia pays special attention to the further development of inter-state and international relations with Turkey. Your huge contribution to the development of the Georgian-Turkish neighborly and partnership relations is very valuable for us. I am sure that our cooperation will continue developing in the future for the benefit of our countries and the entire region."
