Azerbaijan, Turkey mull bilateral relations in defense field (PHOTO)

Turkish National Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz has today arrived in Azerbaijan, according to the website of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

Turkey's delegation, led by Minister Yilmaz, was met at the Nakhchivan airport, by Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov.

An official ceremony was held in front of the headquarters of the Separate combined-arms army of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to welcome the Turkish delegation headed by the national defense minister.

A guard of honor was lined up on the square decorated with the national flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey, to salute Turkey's minister of national defense.

National anthems of Turkey and Azerbaijan were played, following the honor guard head's report.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Hasanov said the Azerbaijan-Turkey cooperation in the area of defense is based on friendly and fraternal relations.

He also stressed that these relations are developing in accordance with both countries' interests.

Afterwards, the defense ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey exchanged views on regional and other issues of cooperation in the defense sector.

Minister Yilmaz underscored the importance of such meetings to strengthen the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The meeting was also attended by Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ismail Alper Coskun.
