There is every reason for a comprehensive development of relations between Azerbaijan and New Zealand in the political, economic and cultural spheres, Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Jeremiah Mateparae said.
Azerbaijan's appointment of its ambassador to New Zealand, will, no doubt, contribute to the development of bilateral cooperation, Mateparae said, receiving Azerbaijani Ambassador Rovshan Jamshidov's credentials, Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said Aug. 26.
The governor-general said Azerbaijan's experience as a UN Security Council non-permanent member is of interest for New Zealand. He also noted the importance of cooperation between the two countries within the UN.
Azerbaijani diplomat, for his part, said he would make every effort to promote cooperation between the two countries. The ambassador informed the governor-general about the large regional projects ongoing in Azerbaijan.
Rovshan Jamshidov, is the first Azerbaijani ambassador to Australia, Fiji and New Zealand. His residence will be in Canberra, Australia.
