Dagestan and Azerbaijan are implementing several new projects, including the construction of plants near Derbent and a sports center in the city, the president of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov said Sept. 11, RIA Dagestan agency reported.
Abdulatipov met with the officers, who arrived in Dagestan for the military service. He spoke about the economic relations of the Republic of Dagestan's border areas with neighboring regions of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
"When I came into power, Dagestan had no economic and cultural project with Azerbaijan or Georgia. At present, a number of programs and projects are being implemented with Azerbaijan now. This year we have passed on the baton to Azerbaijan to host a cultural and investment forum in 2015. We must intensify our relations with Georgia. We are looking for the approaches and holding consultations with the foreign ministry."
