Monitoring on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops near the village of Ashagi Veysalli of Fizuli district Dec.2 will be held in accordance with the mandate of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, the message posted on the website of the Azerbaijani defence ministry Dec.1 said.
From the Azerbaijani side monitoring will be conducted by field assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Hristo Hristov and Peter Swedberg, the message said.
On the opposite side of the contact line monitoring will be conducted by field assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Jiri Aberle, Evgeny Sharov and Simon Tiller, said the message.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
