President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and chairperson of the Baku 2015 First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva have reviewed the course of major overhaul at the Heydar Aliyev Sports and Concert Complex.
Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov informed President Ilham Aliyev about the work carried out here.
The building, whose construction started in 1977, was commissioned in 1990.
The preparation of the project involved foreign and local companies and specialists. Modern competition halls, a souvenir shop, specials areas for media representatives, VIP rooms, a broadcasting center, cafes and bars will be created here.
The gym is being established in line with the modern standards. It will have saunas, massage rooms, a medical point, a 40-seat meeting hall, a 250-seat canteen, a kitchen and other additional rooms.
The number of seats in the building, which covers an area of 55,000 square meters, has been increased from 7587 to 7682. Some 142 VIP seats will be established here.
A 200-seat press center, a cafe for journalists, a 40-seat conference room, a 350-seat hall for volunteers and a cafe will be created in the complex.
President Ilham Aliyev and chairperson of the Baku 2015 First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva also reviewed the adjacent area where landscaping and reconstruction work was carried out, and gave instructions and recommendations.
