Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of Ukraine, said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Jan. 21 answering journalists' questions at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
The president noted that Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of all countries.
"Naturally, we, in turn, want all the countries recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, because Azerbaijan's territorial integrity has been for over 20 years violated by Armenia," he said.
"We openly voted with regard to the territorial integrity of Ukraine supporting it at the UN General Assembly," the president added.
He noted that this is the main principle of international law.
"The territorial integrity can not be changed without the consent of the countries, and if it is violated, it must be restored," President Aliyev said.
