Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has made a statement praising the progress in the talks on Iran's nuclear program.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan welcomes the progress on negotiations between the P5+1, the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the key parameters for a joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, said the statement made on Apr.3.

"We believe that this political framework will provide an opportunity in furthering the peace, security and stability in the region and beyond," said the statement.

The Republic of Azerbaijan supports the efforts and political will of the international community aimed at resolution of the international issues based on the Charter of the United Nations and the norms and principles of international law in a constructive and goodwill manner, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Talks on Iran's nuclear program with participation of P5+1 (US, Russia, China, UK, France plus Germany) and Iran have been held in Lausanne since the last week.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Apr.2 that Iran and P5+1 have laid the foundations for the future comprehensive plan for the settlement of Iranian nuclear issue, RIA Novosti reported.

The P5+1 and Iran agreed that the operation of two-thirds of Iranian facilities for uranium enrichment will be suspended for 10 years. Moreover, Iran agreed to transfer all its uranium enrichment programs under the international control for the period of 25 years.

The P5 +1 and Iran intend to complete the preparation of the agreement on the nuclear program by June 30. This is while EU will lift the sanctions on Iran if the latter fulfills the reached agreements.
