President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Minister of Economic Development of the Italian Republic Federica Guidi April 15.
Guidi greeted President Aliyev on behalf of Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.
Guidi said her visit created a good opportunity to discuss the issues related to the development of the bilateral relations. Stressing the importance of energy sphere in terms of the strengthening of the ties between Azerbaijan and Italy, the minister informed the president of what had been done in her country regarding the TAP project.
President Aliyev recalled his meetings with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during his visit to Rome.
The president emphasized the significance of the Joint Declaration "On strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Italian Republic", which was signed by the two countries during his visit, in terms of partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy as well as between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
Saying the relations between the two countries were successfully developing, President Aliyev underlined the importance of the cooperation in the field of energy security. The president also touched upon the Southern Gas Corridor project, and noted the significance of joint efforts towards the implementation of TANAP project.
President Aliyev said he believed that Guidi`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to the development of the relations between the two countries.
The parties also discussed the issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the fields of agriculture, high technologies, industry and others.
President Aliyev thanked for the greetings of President Mattarella and Renzi, and asked Federica Guidi to communicate his greetings to the president and prime minister of Italy.
