The work on ensuring security is implemented for the Baku shooting center in connection with the first European Games, and as of May 1, the site will be fully ready for use, general manager of the center Uorren Natan told reporters April 17.

He said that the construction of the center began last year. "The main construction work has been completed," said the manager. "Work to ensure security is underway now, which will be completed by late April. The facility will be ready for use on May 1. After the first of May, we will start preparing for the events."

The open polygon has 500 seats, and there are 1200 seats indoors, he said. "But the number of tickets will be smaller during the competition, since the participation of the guests of honor is expected, Natan said.

He said that test competitions are planned to be held.

"It will be possible to hold competitions on all types of shooting sports in the new center, including rifle shooting at a distance of 300 meters," he said. "I have been at three Olympic Games and I do not exclude that this is the biggest shooting center in the world."

He said that the 300-meter polygon will not be used during the European Games, but it may be used in other competitions.

"The test competitions are scheduled for June 12," he said. "The competitions within the European Games will be held from June 16-22. The media center will be located in a nearby hotel.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent, which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
