Trend:

The information that Azerbaijani citizens are banned from traveling to Iran more than twice a month, and that such a ban has already been introduced on the Bilasuvar customs check point is not true, the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend.

Previously, some media reported that the Bilasuvar customs check point switched to a new mode of operation. In this regard, the Azerbaijani citizens would be able to visit Iran only once in 15 days, they said. Previously, citizens of Azerbaijan had the right to cross the border once a week, according to the media. In the near future, this innovation is expected to be introduced at the customs point in Astara as well, some media reported earlier.

In 2009, Iran has unilaterally abolished the visa regime with Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani citizens can travel to Iran without a visa, by providing a passport.
