Azerbaijan continues facing the policy of double standards of the European countries, Azerbaijani foreign minister said.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov made the remarks during the briefing following the meeting with the head of the committee of ministers of the Council of Europe, Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders who is on a visit to Baku.

Rare cases of detention of people who have violated the law become the reason for fault-finding against Azerbaijan, according to the foreign minister.

He said that individuals have been detained for violation of law [articles], in particular for tax evasion and so on.

Mammadyarov urged the European institutions to pay a great attention to the issue of restoring the Azerbaijani borders that were violated as a result of the Armenian aggression, as well as the problems of refugees and IDPs.

The minister said the summit of the Eastern Partnership in Riga will allow to assess the status of the current cooperation between EU and the partner states.

"Today, there are many spheres for cooperation between Azerbaijan and EU and Azerbaijan is ready to further develop this cooperation," said the foreign minister.

Eastern Partnership is the EU project aimed at developing the integration relations of EU with Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia and Belarus.
