Seminars on the theme "Euro-Atlantic security and cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO: past experience and perspectives" were held in the districts of Azerbaijan, said the press release by the Romanian Embassy in Baku May 8.

The seminars, organized by Embassy of Romania, NATO International School of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan were held in Shamkir, Mingachevir and Barda districts.

Students and teachers from local universities, representatives of regional authorities took part at the events.

In his speeches at seminars in Shamkir, Mingachevir and Barda Ambassador of Romania Daniel Cristian Ciobanu highlighted the importance of disseminating information about NATO in different districts of Azerbaijan Republic.

"Embassy of Romania pays a special attention to raising awareness among the Azerbaijani young generation towards NATO's policies and values as a way of ensuring a solid ground for future deepening of relations," said the press release. "NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation brings mutual benefits and contributes to regional and Euro-Atlantic security. Azerbaijan is an important and active NATO partner."

Participants in the seminars exchanged views on the positive experience of NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation.

Azerbaijan is an active partner of NATO in peacekeeping operations. The cooperation is carried out as part of the "Partnership for Peace" program.

Earlier this year, NATO has approved a document of the fourth stage of the Individual Partnership Action Plan for 2015-2016.

The meetings are held in Baku and Brussels to analyze the fulfillment of the activities and objectives of the partnership as part of this plan and the Planning and Review Process (PARP) together with the NATO International Staff.

Around 27 of 41 tasks of the partnership adopted by Azerbaijan within PARP refer to the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. Some adopted objectives of the partnership have been fulfilled. The work is underway to fulfill other long-term objectives of the partnership.
