President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Secretary General of the Socialist International Luis Ayala June 27.
Ayala said the first European Games were excellently organized and the competitions aroused big interest in the world. He also stressed the importance of the fact that Azerbaijani athletes grabbed many medals.
The president stressed the significance of the fact that about 6,000 athletes, 50 National Olympic Committees of Europe and a lot of guests participate in this prestigious sport event.
The parties underlined the significance of the contribution the first European Games made to the expansion of relations among nations, and exchanged views on the prospects for Azerbaijan- Socialist International cooperation.
