The cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will create new opportunities for Azerbaijan, said the country's foreign ministry.
Azerbaijan's foreign policy is multi-vector, and in this respect the country is further expanding cooperation on bilateral and multilateral bases, Hikmet Hajiyev, the foreign ministry's official representative, told Trend July 30.
He was commenting on the future cooperation with the SCO, where Azerbaijan has received the status of a dialogue partner.
The heads of the SCO member states, during a meeting July 9-10 in Ufa, Russia, signed documents providing Azerbaijan with the status of SCO dialogue partner.
Hajiyev said that in this context it is possible to highlight Azerbaijan's observer status in the Arab League, African Union, Organization of American States, and other regional and international organizations, which creates even greater conditions for the country to develop relations with these organizations and member states.
He also added that Azerbaijan's relations with the SCO should be considered through the prism of mechanisms of cooperation with other regional organizations, in which the country doesn't have a membership.
