Elshan Ismayilov, who is a cousin of football player Javid Gurbanov and suspected in the murder of journalist Rasim Aliyev, has nothing to do with the football club "Azal", the club's spokesman Eldaniz Yusifov told Trend August 10.

He said that some media make a mistake by representing Ismayilov as a player of this club. "In January 2015, he played in the reserve of our club," said Yusifov. "But after getting the order of team reorganization, Ismayilov was dismissed from the club by the request of the senior coach. Other players, who did not meet expectations of the couch, were also fired along with him. Officially, this player is not connected with our club starting from July 2."

The club "Gabala", besides the club "Azal", also made a statement regarding Ismayilov. The statement said that Ismayilov, the suspect in the murder of Rasim Aliyev and detained by law enforcement agencies, was a member of the reserve team of "Gabala".

"Ismayilov was accepted in the reserve team of "Gabala" as a perspective football player on July 20, 2013, but remained in the reserve for just six months, and then was removed from the team," said the message of the club.

Javid Gurbanov didn't play for the football club "Gabala".

Employee of Ann.az website Rasim Aliyev was beaten and as a result suffered multiple injuries on August 8. Rasim Aliyev has died in a clinical medical center on August 9. A criminal case was filed. An investigation is underway.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani President's Aide for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov said that the President of Azerbaijan personally supervises the investigation and that the criminals will face the full force of the law.
