Ambassador: Baku – strong, reliable partner for NATO

On October 7, 2015 Embassy of Romania, in its capacity of NATO Contact Point Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized a roundtable on “Current situation and perspectives of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership”.

On October 7, 2015 Embassy of Romania, in its capacity of NATO Contact Point Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized a roundtable on "Current situation and perspectives of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership".

At the event took part Ambassadors, Defence Attaches and senior diplomats from Embassies of NATO countries in Baku and NATO Liaison Office for South Caucasus.

Opening the roundtable Ambassador of Romania H.E. Mr. Daniel Cristian Ciobanu highlighted the importance of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership. Several events took place in Baku in the last period of time.

On 14 -18 September NATO Joint Force Command (JFC) in Brunssum, in the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation, organized and conducted a Psychological Operations (PSYOPS) Mobile Training Team (MTT) event in Baku.

On September 19, 2015 Embassy of Romania, which fulfills the mandate of NATO Contact Point Embassy to the Republic of Azerbaijan for the fourth time in a row, organized a NATO presentation stand at EuroVillage festival in Baku. On October 6, 2015 NATO Days kicked off in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

On October 8, 2015 Embassy of Romania will organize in Baku together with Organization of Integration of Azerbaijani Youth to Europe (AGAT) a workshop on NATO-Azerbaijan relations. Embassy of Romania pays special attention to raising awareness among the Azerbaijani young generation towards NATO's values as a way of ensuring a solid ground for future deepening of relations.

Romanian diplomatic mission will continue to organize public diplomacy events in order to confer more visibility to NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation.

Romania, which has been the second country in the world to recognize Azerbaijan's independence, will further support the development of NATO-Azerbaijan partnership. Baku is a strong and reliable partner for NATO in a region of pivotal importance for Europe's energy security.

Political Officer within NATO Liaison Office for South Caucasus, Jiri Preclik, informed about the latest developments in NATO policy regarding Azerbaijan.

Military Officer within NATO Liaison Office for South Caucasus, Maximilian Eder, presented the main elements of NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation in the security field.

Participants in the roundtable exchanged views on the positive experience of NATO-Azerbaijan relations.
