Over 36 int’l structures to send observers for Azerbaijan’s parliamentary election

As many as 465 observers from 36 international structures have been accredited in the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan for observing the parliamentary election to be held Nov.1 in the country, CEC head Mazahir Panahov told secki2015.az website.

In total, the missions representing 53 countries will observe the parliamentary election, he added.

"These are the delegations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), the parliaments of Australia, Italy, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, delegations from the British House of Lords, heads of CEC delegations from various countries, delegations of the European Academy for Elections Observation, GUAM, American Center of Political Monitoring and other influential bodies," said Panahov.

Further, the CEC head noted that the number of people who have individually applied to the district election commissions for observing the election has exceeded 55,000.

The majority of Azerbaijani observers are the representatives of political parties, he added.

Panahov said that currently, there are 10 observers for each polling station which is a quite high figure.
