Azerbaijan has played an important role in great achievements of ISESCO, the country's Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said.
He made the remarks during the 36th session of ISESCO (Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) Executive Council.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing the cooperation with ISESCO, said the minister.
Pointing out that Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva is the goodwill ambassador of ISESCO, Garayev said that it is a bright example of high-level cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization.
The minister expressed gratitude of Azerbaijan for ISESCO's support to the country's fair position in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The 36th session of ISESCO Executive Council kicked off in Baku Nov.23. Representatives of international organizations, ministers of culture and education from various countries, as well as diplomats are attending the event.
The organization's activities, financial and other issues will be discussed during the meeting.
Moreover, Azerbaijan will host the 12th General Conference of ISESCO on Nov.23-27. Azerbaijan became the ISESCO member in 1991.
