Baku, Azerbaijan, Apr. 22

Azerbaijan is known for its long-standing tradition of respect for multiculturalism and acceptance of different religious and ethnic groups, the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta told Trend Apr. 22.

He was commenting on the upcoming 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in Baku.

"We welcome efforts to raise the issue of tolerance for diversity, including in international venues, and think Azerbaijanis' experience is particularly important in helping all of us meet the challenges we see in today's world," said the ambassador.

The 7th UNAOC Global Forum will be held in Baku Apr. 25-27.

It is planned to hold a meeting with participation of high-ranking officials and about 30 sessions during the Forum.

The Baku Declaration is expected to be adopted during the high-level meeting of the UNAOC Global Forum.

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on July 24, 2015 to create an organizing committee for holding the 7th UNAOC Global Forum in Baku.
