The OSCE Minsk Group (MG) looks forward to Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents' meeting on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in June, the OSCE MG US Co-Chair James Warlick tweeted June 1.

He noted that the OSCE MG held important talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on the comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Mammadyarov discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict's settlement with co-chairs of the OSCE MG on May 31, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, told Trend.

The pre-planned meeting with the mediators took place in Brussels during the working visit of the Azerbaijani foreign minister.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
