Envoy: State of emergency in Turkey not to affect Azerbaijanis’ travels to country

Baku, Azerbaijan, July 21

By Orkhan Guluzade – Trend:

Azerbaijani citizens will travel to Turkey as before and the state of emergency declared in Turkey won’t constrain the freedom of Turkish or foreign citizens, and won’t create any obstacles to their travels, said Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismayil Alper Coskun.

He made the remarks during a press conference in Baku commenting on the activities of Turkish leadership to address the consequences of the military coup attempt in the country.

The ambassador noted that declaring the state of emergency in Turkey will speed up the process of cleansing the country from terrorists.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a three-month state of emergency in Turkey July 20 in accordance with the Article 120 of the Constitution in order to eliminate all factors of the terrorist organization that earlier attempted to stage a military coup in the country.

On July 15 evening, Turkish authorities said a military coup attempt took place in the country.

Meanwhile, a group of servicemen announced about transition of power to them.
However, the rebelling servicemen started to surrender July 16 and Turkish authorities said the coup attempt failed.

More than 200 people have been killed as a result of the coup attempt.
