Polling stations will be created at Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions in nearly 40 countries in accordance with the country’s Constitution and Election Code in order to ensure the participation of citizens, who live and are on a business trip abroad, in the referendum, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev told Trend Aug. 23.

Earlier, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to hold a referendum Sept. 26 for making amendments to the country’s constitution.

According to Article 35.6 of Azerbaijan’s Electoral Code, polling stations are created 30 days before the voting day in countries, where the number of voters who are on the consular register, exceeds 50.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has already submitted to the country’s Central Election Commission the list of diplomatic representations and consulates, where the voting will be held, as well as the information about the number of citizens on the polling stations.

Hajiyev also said that necessary measures are taken in order to provide diplomatic representations with transparent ballot boxes, ballot papers, voting inks and others.
