Azerbaijan allots 6 months to draft legal acts in line with Referendum Act

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree Oct. 12 on the preparation of relevant draft legal acts in connection with the entry into force of the Referendum Act “On Amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan,” adopted as a result of the Sept. 26 referendum.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree Oct. 12 on the preparation of relevant draft legal acts in connection with the entry into force of the Referendum Act “On Amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan,” adopted as a result of the Sept. 26 referendum.

Within six months, the country’s Cabinet of Ministers should:

- prepare the relevant draft legal acts arising from the changes made in connection with the sections 1-29 of the Referendum Act "On Amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan,” adopted as a result of the Sept. 26 referendum, and present them to the Azerbaijani president;

- ensure adjustment of the normative legal acts of the Cabinet of Ministers to the Referendum Act and inform the Azerbaijani president;

- control adjustment of the normative legal acts of central executive bodies to the Referendum Act and inform the Azerbaijani president on their implementation.

The country’s Ministry of Justice was instructed to ensure the adjustment of normative legal acts and normative acts of central executive bodies to the Referendum Act "On Amendments to the Constitution of Azerbaijan” and to inform the Cabinet of Ministers.
