Azerbaijan and Poland will discuss further cooperation as part of the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Warsaw, Marek Tsalka, Polish ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Trend Oct. 14.

He said that the meeting of the commission is scheduled for December 20.

“During the meeting the sides will consider the agenda for further cooperation after the government was changed in Poland in late 2015,” the ambassador added.

The Law and Justice right-wing conservative party won the parliamentary election in Poland in 2015. The party obtained such a number of mandates that it could form the government without a coalition with other parliamentary factions for the first time in post-communist Poland. The representatives of the left-wing parties have not been represented in the Polish Sejm for the first time since 1989.

The diplomat added that organizing further meetings between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Poland are planned to be discussed during the meeting.

“Two Polish deputy foreign ministers intend to visit Baku soon,” Tsalka said. “The dates of the visits are being coordinated.”

According to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Poland amounted to $49.37 million in January-August 2016 compared to $44.3 million in the same period of 2015.
