President of Czech Senate plans to visit Azerbaijan

President of Senate (upper house of the parliament) of the Czech Republic Milan Stech plans to visit Azerbaijan in the near future, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Czech Republic Farid Shafiyev told Trend Jan. 11.

The aim of the visit is to hold negotiations dedicated to the development of interparliamentary relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan, as well as discuss the wide range of issues of bilateral relations, noted Shafiyev.

During the planned meetings, Milan Stech will exchange views on situation in the region and regional cooperation, as well as cooperation within international organizations and at a parliamentary level.

Currently, the sides are working on the visit’s date.

The Czech Republic ranks 12th among major importers from Azerbaijan.

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic amounted to $312.02 million in January-November 2016 and $214.17 million of this amount accounted for the export of Azerbaijani products to the Czech Republic.

The specific weight of the Czech Republic in Azerbaijan’s total export was 2.58 percent in 11 months of 2016.
