AS RESULT OF AZERBAIJAN’S OMBUDSMAN’S APPEALS 150 PERSONS PARDONED SO FAR

As the result of appeals of Azerbaijan’s ombudsman, Elmira Suleymanova to the country’s President, 150 inmates have been pardoned so far, the ombudsman’s office told Trend.

The report says, that the President’s decree of 20 June 2005 “On pardoning of a number of persons, deprived of freedom“ concerned 16 inmates, on whose pardoning the ombudsman applied earlier to the head of the state. On the whole the Decree covers 100 inmates. This is the 7-th Decree on pardoning, signed by the President, and in general the 39-th Decree on pardoning.

For the period of functioning of the ombudsman’s office in Azerbaijan, 150 jailed returned to their families and the society.
