The foreign policy of Iran after presidential elections will not be changed and the existing policy, including towards Azerbaijan, will be continued, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran, Abbasali Hassanov told Trend exclusively.
According to him, by statements of Iranian officials and the newly elected President of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadinejada, friendly, fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Iran will be developing more and both sides will implement new mutually advantageous projects. В"
Any person, elected by the Iranian people as their President is respected in AzerbaijanвЂќ, the diplomat said. According to him, on 27 June the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev sent his congratulations to the newly elected President of Iran. В"And this displays our respect and esteem to the choice of the Iranian peopleвЂќ, Hassanov said.
Replying the question on the results of the Iranian presidential elections on the state of the Iranian Azerbaijanis, the Ambassador said, вЂњThe Azerbaijani living in Iran are the citizens of the IRI and they are not so weak. And how they will live and how they will build their life it is their private affair. We must be aware that Azerbaijanis living in other countries, in Iran, particularly, are citizens of this country, and the Azerbaijani state does not interfere into the internal affairs of Iran.
