AN FOR DEVELOPMENT OF INT’L DOCUMENT BANNING ANTI-INFANTRY MINES

Azerbaijan is for development of the international document on prohibition of anti-infantry, Shirin Rzayeva, the worker of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), said to a meeting of the International Humanitarian Center in Geneva, Trend reports.

The participants in the gathering discussed the Ottawa Convention on prohibition of use, manufacturing and handling anti-infantry mines. The ANAMA representative stated the Azerbaijani government’s position on the Ottawa Convention and steps taken for joining to this document.

“Azerbaijan does not manufacture such mines. The establishment of the ANAMA in Azerbaijan can be regarded as a step, directed at Azerbaijan’s joining to the Convention,” it underlines.
