DRP LEADER HOLDS MEETINGS AT U.S. CONGRESS, IIR, NDI

Asim Mollazada, the chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party (DRP), held meetings with some congressmen, as well as leaders of the international institutes and projects during his visit to the United States which started on 15 July, the DRP told Trend.

In a meeting with Den Vartan, a congressman from Indiana St., the chairman of DRP thanked him for support to the PACE resolution on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He discussed the forthcoming parliamentary elections and Azerbaijani-U.S. relations in a meeting with Eliot Engle, the congressman from New-York St.

Talks with members of the PACE commission in Congress centered on the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The same day Mollazada held meetings in the International Institute of Republicans (IIR) and National Democracy Institute (NDI) to inform them about the DRP’s program. He also spoke about the necessity of reforms to ensure democratic parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

Mollazada met with Nelson Ledski, the Director of the NDI, and conducted exchange of opinions in different spheres. He discussed the forthcoming elections in Azerbaijan and integration into the Euro-Atlantic Union in the meeting with Bruce Jackson, the Director of the Project on Transnational Democracy.

Mollazada will conclude his visit by the end of this week.
