1465 crimes connected with drugs have been registered in Azerbaijan during January-June 2005, the State Commission on fighting drugs abuse and illegal drugs trafficking told Trend.
During this period 202 kg of narcotics and psychotropic substances have been removed from some individuals, including 11,2 kg of heroine, 25,7 kg of opium, 16,8 kg of hashish, over 139 kg of marijuana, 11,069 tablets and 10 ampules with psychotropic medicines.
During 6 months of the current year 1459 persons have been called to account for committing such crimes, among them 42 foreigners: 19 of them are citizens of Iran, 18- of Georgia, 2 вЂ" of Afghanistan, 2- of Russia and one from Ukraine. Over 10 kg of narcotic substances have been taken away from them.
During this period 212 tons of wild and illegally cultivated narcotic plants have been revealed and destroyed.
