ILHAM ALIYEV TOOK PART IN OLYMPIC CENTRE BASE LAYING CEREMONY IN GUSARI REGION

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took part in the Olympic complex base laying ceremony in Gusari region of Azerbaijan on 28 July. The Minister of Youth, Sport and Tourism, Abulfaz Garayev, speaking at the ceremony, noted, the 12-th in number Olympic Center of Azerbaijan would require investments of 3-4 million USD, Trend reports.

The Olympic Center, taking area of 14 hectares, will incorporate, along with open and closed sport complexes, football, basketball and volleyball grounds, tennis courts, as well as a hotel.

The ski center design presentation also took place at the ceremony, to be located 38 km of Gusari on the slope of the Shahdag mountain, close to the Laza village. Negotiations with French, Swiss and Austrian companies were held for the project development.

The French Shamber-Vibert company’s proposal to use the center not only in winter, but also for the summer holidays, turned out to be the most acceptable for the country. The centre’s area will be 100 hectares and demands investments of 50 million euro. The project funding will be performed by the Azerbaijan’s government and private companies.

Ilham Aliyev noted, the ski center with an area of over 10,000 square meters would enable to hold international competitions on winter sports in Azerbaijan.

В"The complex will not have analogues in the Caucasus and meet all international standards”, Aliyev underlined, having noted, the ski center in Gusar will be built in the shortest time вЂ" within one year.

President Ilham Aliyev laid the first stone of the Olympic Centre and the Sports Base in Gusari.

In the second half of the day ilham Aliyev will hold meeting with heads of executive administrations of the country’s northern regions in Gusari.
