Azadlyg elections bloc, which unites the Popular Front of Azerbaijan Party (PFAP, reformers), the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) and Musavat Party, staged mass actions in several regions of Azerbaijan on Saturday.
The PFAP (reformers) told Trend the actions were dispersed by police in Zakatala and Tovuz, while they were success in Saatly and Bilasuvar. The next rally of the kind will be held in Ganja city on Saturday at 17.00 pm.
According to Hassan Karimov, the vice chairman of the PFAP, the oppositionists in Zakatala did not want to hold an action in the place offered them in the outskirts of the district center and attempted to rally in the center of the district. A member of the PFAP Presidium, Fuad Gahramanly, and 7 protesters more were arrested. They were released after a while.
The oppositionists in Tovuz attempted to rally at 11:00. However, at around 9.00am the police surrounded the place the action was to be staged. 12 representatives of he bloc were arrested for attempts on staging an unsanctioned rally.
A sanctioned rally was organized in Saatly in front of the House of Culture. No incident was reported during the action which lasted from 11.00am to 13.00pm. Another sanctioned rally was held in Bilasuvar from 12.00 to 14.00. No incident was reported.
The next rally will be held in Sabirabad on Sunday from 11.00 to 13.00, in Lankaran вЂ" 17.00 to 19.00, in Imishli вЂ" from 11.00 to 13.00. Kerimov said that he actions staged on Saturday were in success.
