The ceremony of swearing of the Peace Corps third group volunteers took place in Chemical Palace in Sumgaiyt. The third group of volunteers consists of 35 teachers of English and consultants on the communities economic development and will spend the following 2 years in the regions of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
As the country director on Azerbaijan Zoltan Szigethy noted in his speech, the first group of volunteers of 24 persons has already completed its activities in 12 regions of Azerbaijan, while the second group of 22 persons worked in 16 country’s regions. В"We hope the Peace Corps activities will enable the people of both countries to learn each other’s culture and traditions.
The volunteers will live in the Azerbaijani host families and study traditions of the Azerbaijani people”, Szigethy noted. The volunteers, who arrived on 28 May of the current year took three-months courses of the Azerbaijani language.
During the ceremony the volunteers were given the certificates of the organization. The Azerbaijan’s Minister of Education Misir Mardanov, head of the Sumgayit executive power Vagif Aliyev and the USA Ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish took part in the ceremony.
